They're here!! WooHoo! They're so coooollllll! :) -- Spun them around a little for about 15 minutes. I love the weight and feel. They feel as though they glide through the air as easily as lightweight shimmery fabric. I absolutely love them!

Anther question

Can I and or how do I ... protect the fire wicks during all of my practices and droppings (to the ground) until I am ready to light up? Is there a cover or should I wrap them in fabric to protect them or is it unnecessary?

you can use a pair of socks or neoprene beer bottle covers; whatever. But it is a good idea to have covers for a couple of reasons.

    1) Expensive wicking getting frayed hurts to see. Especially if you haven't lit them yet. You will shorten the lifespan of your toys that way.
    2) a slight extra weight helps to simulate the extra weight and drag of a fuel -laden wick.
    3) If you develop the habit of covering them now, then when the wicks are used, you wont be leaving black soot marks on your clothes and other posessions.

Long time ago I saw a great cover, online, for poi: it was the finger portion chopped off of a couple of oven mitts. Cut a hole in the end and thread the handle and chain through it. The wick is protected, padded, and clean.
