I am SO enamoured with fire bellydance and would love to perform with fire fingers (?) and perhaps fans...
Anywhoo! I've no experience and no one to learn from here (Billings, MT) Is there some way to teach myself how to do this (safely..^_^) Videos, someone close by I don't know about, or maybe another resource... anything? I would love to learn but I don't want to do it without proper safety information. Plus, I'd like all the useful information that goes with utilizing such a dangerous tool for dance purposes. Another thing is, where do I get the stuff? I've just so many questions and would love it if someone could point me in the right direction :) !!!!

Re: Newbie here!!
Tue, January 8, 2008 - 10:27 AMHi River~ I would suggest searching for fire fingers videos on YouTube. I have some videos on my website of me dancing with fingers and fans. Also, check out my shop, I make and design fire fingers. You can do a lot of belly dance moves with them and they are really easy to dance with. If you have never danced with fire before, I suggest using 91% rubbing alcohol to start as it is a low flame and doesn't burn as bright and hot as white gas or lamp oil.

Tue, January 8, 2008 - 11:52 AMPerfect, thank you!!
Also, do you have any tips that you learned along the way about safety issues such as; clothing, makeup and all that? I'm just kinda nervous about playing with fire and not paying special attention to something important. I don't want no ouchies! -

Tue, January 8, 2008 - 2:29 PMAs with any tool, use it for a while unlit, that will tell you where your danger zones are, then adjust your costuming appropriately. And never try a new tool or new moves without safeties:
